The WATCHMAN Story…

On a routine late-night patrol in Ashland, Nebraska, on December 3, 1967, police officer Herbert Schirmer noticed mysterious lights near the ground. Assuming it was a semi-trailer, he approached, but to his shock, the object took off and vanished into the night sky. He logged the incident with an incredulous note: "Saw a flying saucer at the junction of highways 6 and 63. Believe it or not!" He returned home with a splitting headache and an inexplicable red welt on his neck.

Despite being only 22, Schirmer was highly respected and soon promoted to Chief of Police. However, his promising career took a sudden turn. Plagued by persistent headaches and an inability to concentrate, Schirmer resigned just two months later. The encounter haunted him.

During this time, the Condon Committee was deep into its UFO study and took an interest in Schirmer’s case. They discovered a mysterious 20-minute gap in his log from that night and suggested hypnotic regression to uncover any hidden memories. What emerged was astonishing.

Under hypnosis, Schirmer recounted how the illuminated object had landed near his car, and several humanoid beings approached him. One shone a light into his eyes, and a green gas enveloped his car. Immobilized, Schirmer inexplicably rolled down his window. A being reached in, touched his neck, and asked, "Are you the watchman over this place?" and "Would you shoot at a space ship?" When Schirmer responded, "No, sir," he was invited aboard their craft.

The beings, around five feet tall with grayish-white skin, narrow heads, and slit-like mouths, wore silvery-gray jumpsuits adorned with a winged serpent emblem. Inside their ship, they communicated both audibly and telepathically, explaining their long-term surveillance of humanity for a "breeding analysis program." They revealed their strategy of contacting people at random to maintain confusion and gradual acceptance of their presence. They promised Schirmer that he wouldn’t remember most of the encounter and assured him, "Someday, Watchman, you will see the universe."

After being returned to his car, Schirmer watched the craft disappear, leaving behind only the welt on his neck as a reminder. The hypnotic session’s revelations forever altered his life. Schirmer never returned to the police force, profoundly changed by an extraordinary encounter that began with a routine patrol and ended with a promise from beyond the stars.
